Miltonvale Park Wastewater Study

The Community of Miltonvale Park is presently preparing a new Official Plan. As well, you may be aware that some areas in the community have experienced problems with bacterial contamination of wells and failing septic systems in the past several years. Residents in the Sleepy Hollow area of the community have concerns about water quality, due to their proximity to the former Queens County Landfill site. The Community of Miltonvale Park is also within the Charlottetown Special Planning Area which severely restricts the subdivision and development of lands within communities which don't have municipal water or sewer servicing. Although Council has been working on all these issues over the past several years, it was felt that a comprehensive study would provide Councillors with the information required to make economically and environmentally sound decisions regarding the future servicing of the community.

The Community has received funding through the Capacity Building Funds from the Gas Tax Funds to carry out a Wastewater and Water Servicing Feasibility Study to investigate the feasibility of various options regarding water and sewer servicing, and septic management plans. Engineering Technologies Canada Ltd. (ETC), known for their innovative approaches to rural wastewater management, is carrying out the study.

To help make this study successful, we ask that you take ten to fifteen minutes to complete the enclosed survey and return it to the Council Office by June 20, 2008 (by mail or in the drop-off box at the Winsloe Lions Club doorstep). To thank you for your time, a draw for two - $50 cash prizes will be made from all surveys returned by June 20.

A survey has been sent to the registered owner of each property in the study area. If you receive multiple surveys, please complete one for each property.

The survey may also be completed on-line. Click here to START SURVEY. You will be prompted for a username and password which you have received by mail. The survey also contains detailed maps of the study area which may assist in confirming your property ID number(s) and in completing the survey.

The survey responses will be kept confidential and no individual names will be published. The summarized results will be presented as tables and maps. Please complete the surveys to the best of your ability, and please note any comments or concerns you may have regarding water or sewer servicing at question # 24.

If you have any questions about the study or about the survey questions, please contact the Community Council Office at 368-3090 or by e-mail at admin@miltonvalepark.com.

We look forward to receiving your assistance and input.
