Mesh networking in simple terms.

What is wireless mesh networking?
mesh_explanation.png
In very simple terms think of wireless mesh networking as a number of wireless access points (nodes) that can all talk to each other. One or more of the nodes can be connected to the internet or other networks. These "nodes" can extend network coverage over long distances, or over a large area providing umbrella like coverage.
As shown above, if you have a wireless laptop - (Wi-Fi, 802.11a,b,g) (the green cube above) and are in range of a node, then the mesh network will find the shortest route to allow you internet access or to communicate with another machine that may be in the mesh.
